Yellowknife experienced a brief power outage this morning.
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation tweeted out updates throughout the morning.
Yellowknife outage – restoration is in progress. Thanks for your patience as we work to safely restore power.

By 7:30, power was restored for the city.
YK Outage update – all areas within the city are now restored. Operator is on his way to address a problem in Edzo.

Via email, Doug Prendergast, Communications Manager for the NTPC, said outage was caused by “cold temperature“. To help fix the issue, NTPC briefly transitioned to diesel.
“We are currently running at 50% diesel generation to meet the system load,” Prendergast said.
As of 10:40am today, power in Edzo had been almost fully restored.
Edzo outage update – service has been restored to most customers. Line crew is still working on the Elizabeth Mackenzie school.
