Yesterday morning, during recess at Princess Alexander School, the boy was approached by the man in his car.

The boy reported the incident to the school. When the teachers went outside, they saw the car leave the parking lot.

The man is described as Caucasian, wearing a leather jacket with a trapper’s style hat. He was driving a four door white/grey cross-over.

Northwest Territories RCMP Media Relations, Marie York-Condon, says the personal safety of children is always important.

It is always important to keep your personal safety in mind and to teach your children what to do in the event they encounter a stranger,” says York-Condon. “In this case the child did the right thing by getting to the safety of the school building and reporting it to a teacher right away.

All schools have been advised by RCMP and extra patrols are being conducted in the school areas.
