Arctic Winter Games ramping up volunteer numbers to close out 2017

The Arctic Winter Games is continuing their quest for more volunteers.

Hay River and Fort Smith are battling to see who will bring in more helping hands.

General Manager for the Games, Todd Schafer, says the Games passed 100 volunteers in just the last week.

We’re still looking for another 100 people to sign before Monday,” says Schafer. “We’ll have the offices open in Hay River and in Fort Smith open late on Monday night. If people want to sign up as volunteers, they can go online to sign up, or they can go to the offices. Our staff is glad to help you get ready to volunteer for the games.

Schafer adds the goal is still reach about 1 500 by the time the action starts.

If you live in Hay River or Fort Smith and would like to offer your home as boarding for athletes and volunteers, Schafer says you will qualify as a volunteer.

The Games will begin on March 18th, 2018.

You can volunteer online here.
