UPDATE: Fire in Yellowknife’s Borden area

Late last night, the Yellowknife Fire Division responded to a call on 174 Jeske Crescent.

Officials were advised the home was engulfed in flames. All occupants and pets had been evacuated.

While arriving at the scene, the emergency crew noted dark smoke “billowing out from under the skirting.

The fire was contained to the home and minimal damage was sustained to the trailer that was parked a few feet beside it.

While crews were battling the blaze, personnel at the fire hall also responded to six medical calls and another fire alarm.

There was an earlier alarm that went off in Lanky Court, it is not confirmed if this is the reported fire alarm in the release.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire was a new heater placed under the home to warm the water lines.
