Status of Women Council to host vigil for women lost to violence

The Status of Women Council will be hosting a vigil this week.

The vigil falls within the 16 days of action. Having begun on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25th, the 16 days of action will end on International Human Rights Day this Sunday, on December 10th.

Yellowknife residents are asked to attend the vigil at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre Wednesday at 7:00pm. Each year, the Council takes the day to remember the women lost in the Montreal Massacre in 1989. In addition, women lost in the NWT due to violence will also be remembered.
