Power outage on Old Airport Road

There is a considerably large power outage along Old Airport Road.

A listener direct messaged the Moose’s Facebook Page to report the fact, saying “Airport road from GSH is without power all the way to the airport.”

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation then confirmed via Twitter that a power outage is in effect.

“Partial outage in YK – one feeder affected. NUL is investigating problem on the line.”

“Update – @NorthlandUtil has located the source of the problem. Crew is on site working on repair.”

Update:

Northland Utilities has identified and corrected the issue. Power should be restored.

The investment is aimed at boosting local electricity systems to help reduce reliance on fossil fuels and support long-term economic growth. With electricity demand anticipated to double by 2050, reliable access to clean power remains a critical infrastructure gap in the North where power outages happen weekly if not daily.
