Alberta and NWT released first annual bilateral water agreement report

The first report on the bilateral water agreement between Alberta and the Northwest Territories is now available to the public.

The Alberta-Northwest Territories Mackenzie River Basin Bilateral Water Management Agreement was signed by the two jurisdictions in March of 2015.

Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Robert C. McLeod, says the Agreement will help make informed decisions when it comes to managing our waters.

Protecting the integrity of our waters in the Northwest Territories is critical to ensuring they remain clean, abundant and productive for all time,” says McLeod. “The information provided in this joint report on the first year of the Agreement will help us make informed and proactive decisions when it comes to managing our waters.

The agreement is the second in a series of bilateral agreements to manage water in the Mackenzie Basin, the largest river system in Canada.
