The Games are coming.
That said, theĀ 2018 South Slave Arctic Winter Games aren’t here for another four months; however, the time to get involved is here.
General Manager for theĀ 2018 SSAWG, Todd Schafer, says there are openings for volunteers.
“We’re hoping it’s going to be 2000 volunteers,” says Schafer. “We usually get around that number. We’re at about 700 right now – so we’re right about on schedule.”

While the games are a Northern-based event, featuring Northern athletes, Schafer says the volunteers can come from all over.
“We have them fly in or drive in and stay. When you need 2000+ volunteers, you need to get creative. Some people will share rooms just to have their families and friends come and help. It’s nice when you get stories like that, people wanting to help out as much as possible.”
