GNWT puts on annual flu shot clinic

It’s that time of the year.

The Government of the Northwest Territories is hosting flu shot clinics, free of charge, over the next month.

Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Andre Corriveau, was in attendance to receive his flu shot.

He talked about the importance of getting the shot done early, especially if you have elderly people in your life.

If you have any elderly people at home, or you have them in your office – people with chronic conditions,” said Corriveau. “It’s important to not bring the flu home. You can limit the threat by coming and getting the shot done.

Minister of Health and Social Services, Glen Abernethy, was also receiving his flu shot. He spoke about how the clinics around the territory are seeing great numbers.

People around the Territory, in certain communities, they’ll make a big deal about going and getting it done as a group,” said Abernethy. “It’s really amazing to think about what they’re able to do.

Abernethy would add that Yellowknife continues to see an improved turnout each year.

The clinic continues today and tomorrow at Northern United Place. It will return throughout the month.
