A partial power outage that began around midnight early this morning is currently affecting households in the community of Hay River. It is unclear how many households are impacted at this time.

Urban planners have released detailed findings from the first round of a public engagement, including the results of a youth survey, for the city of Yellowknife’s new transportation plan. Yellowknife youth who participated identified road safety as a top concern. Survey respondents indicated they found public transportation unreliable and identified walking as a "priority" for urban transportation in the future.

The Salvation Army’s Kettle Food Drive raised nearly $50,000 over the holiday season. “We set an ambitious goal of $47,000 for our Christmas Kettles this year, and our final tally is $49,496.36,” said Tony Brushett, executive director of the Salvation Army.

As the Dempster highway into the town of Inuvik reopens, the community is anticipating relief in midst of a fuel shortage that hit amid extreme cold temperatures in the region. Inuvik leadership reports that fuel is en route and with temperatures warming, the news is bringing some relief.
