Four new fires have been reported in Wood Buffalo and the NWT. The fire near the Whooping Crane nesting area, about 22 kilometres northeast of Highway 5, has more than doubled in size since last week. About 39,907 hectares at last measure, park Firefighters reported that the blaze remained within the Wood Buffalo boundary this weekend despite significant growth at the weekend’s start.
