NWTMN speaks out on last weeks Federal Court decision

Following the Federal Court’s decision on the Northwest Territory Métis Nation Land and Resources Agreement-in-Principle, the Northwest Territory Métis Nation (NWTMN) have released a statement.

The NWTMN advises they will continue to negotiate final land claim agreements, as per the decision of the court. They stress that negotiations have not been halted and that the North Slave Métis Alliance did not receive the “full relief [they had] sought“.

Their statement stresses that the Court never made any orders against the NWTMN. They also address any illegitimacy comments aimed toward the governing body.

The court case did not question the legitimacy of the NWTMN or the legitimacy of the NWTMN land and resource negotiation process.
