NWT Cabinet vote official on Sebert’s future

Justice Minister Louis Sebert is staying in his position.

The Northwest Territories cabinet held a vote yesterday at the legislative assembly.

Seven members voted for him being removed from the cabinet, while 11 voted against the proposed exit.

Member Shane Thompson expressed his concerns surrounding Sebert and the New Day Men’s Healing program.

If we’re not healing people, we’re not doing the job right,” said Thompson. “I was really concerned with the process. We went from a nine month to a five year deal, which wasn’t offered to other people. If you’re not offering to other people, then we’re not doing what we’re supposed to be doing.

Sebert said at the Assembly that he could do better as a Minister.
