UNW/NTPC talks break down

Union Employees with the Northwest Territories Power Corporation still have not signed a collective agreement.

An offer was extended by the Union of Northern Workers last week to settle before strike votes took effect. The offer was rejected by the Employer.

The 1st Vice President and bargaining lead, Gayla Thunstrom, spoke on the NTPC.

It has been clear from the outset that this Employer is taking its marching orders from the GNWT.

Now, the Union will hold strike vote meetings in various communities across the territory.

They will be held over the coming weeks; the first of which was yesterday in Inuvik.
