“It’s not always easy, but we are passionate”; Dene Wellness Warriors celebrate one-year

It is the one-year anniversary for the Dene Wellness Warriors.

“It’s not always easy, but we are passionate…”

Over the past year, Roy and Jean Erasmus have provided wellness workshops to communities. The couple has also given counselling to Residential School Survivors and their families.

Jean is an approved Mental Health Counselor with Health Canada. She uses a more holistic approach to helping the people she meets.

As Indigenous people, we feel it’s important to give back to the community with a gesture of gratitude,” says Jean. “It’s not always easy, but we are passionate about working with our people and we are grateful to be able to do this work.

To celebrate, the Dene Wellness Warriors will be giving out free sandwiches and cake.

That will be today, at noon, just outside of the Yellowknife post office.
