Update to the Hay River fire ban

Fire Chief Ross Potter confirmed via email that the fire ban is over.

At this point we are giving Fire Permits on a very limited basis so the Fire Ban is over,” said Potter. “Permits are required for all fires that are not contained in an approved Fire Pit.

The ban was issued in early July when the Northwest Territories was dealing with heavy smoke. Yellowknife’s fire ban was lifted on July 28th.

So hopefully you get to enjoy a fire or two before the winter is officially here!
