New Geological facility opens up in NWT

The Government of the Northwest Territories is opening a new facility.

The NWT Geological Materials Storage Facility allows for easy access to data collected by researchers.

It allows for the analysis of core samples to be tested for new mineral exploration ideas at a fraction of the cost of previous methods.

Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment, Wally Schumann, says the new facility is a great achievement for the territory.

This information will save time and expense for mineral exploration companies and prospectors, and has the potential to lead to multi-million dollar exploration programs. We are already seeing the economic benefits of making this material available.

The facility is a part of the GNWT’s mandate of allowing for more publicly available data.
