Mackenzie named new Tłı̨chǫ Grand Chief

The former Grand Chief is now the new Grand Chief.

Results are in for the Tłı̨chǫ Grand Chief election.

A grand total of 1551 votes were cast from polling stations in Behchokǫ, Whatì, Gamètì, Wekweètì and Yellowknife.

George Mackenzie was voted in with 677 votes.

The now-former Grand Chief, Eddie Erasmus, came in second with 486 votes.

Mackenzie will serve a four-year term for the Tłı̨chǫ Nation.

NWT averts orange alert sweeping its southern borders

Environment Canada has issued a cold warning for the NWT and what may be its largest orange warning to date, sweeping regions south of the territory.stretching from Saskatchewan to Ontario.
