Outreach program picks up approximately 106 people downtown every week

Numbers are showing that a high number of individuals are in need of rides to Sobering centres and homeless shelters.

The new Street Outreach program provided 711 rides in the first four weeks of service.

The Yellowknife Street Outreach program has been running since mid July with funding from the City and the Yellowknife Women’s Society.

The Street Outreach van helps individuals who are at risk and are unable to travel safely on their own to shelters or to home.

The Outreach program says an average of 106 are picked up downtown on a weekly basis.
