No charges issued in single-car crash

Yellowknife RCMP have completed their investigation into yesterday’s single-car crash near Jackfish Lake.

The driver had been heading towards Old Airport Road when they had lost control. The vehicle had ended up in a ditch on the side of the road.

The driver was sent to Stanton Territorial Hospital with minor injuries.

No charges are pending.

In their statement, the RCMP pressed to remind motorists to, “drive responsibly and safely when out enjoying the long weekend. Anyone who witnesses any dangerous driving behavior along the roads and highways are encouraged to contact their local RCMP Detachment.“

With high lead at 31 of 38 NWT schools, more public site tests to be “determined”

Testing results show another school in the territory with elevated levels of lead in water. Since comprehensive testing of schools across the N.W.T. began this fall, 31 school sites out of 38 announced to date have tested positive for elevated levels of lead. Two officials from the department of Infrastructure said the N.W.T. plans to look at testing more public buildings including health care centres and hospitals once school testing is completed.
