Canada Summer Games: August 1st Recap

‘Close but not enough’ was the theme yesterday at the Canada Summer Games.

Athletics

It wasn’t partiocularly a strong day for Northwest Territories Track and Field.

The Track athletes finished near the bottom of their respective heats, with Lance Dizon (200m) placing 20th and Fiona Huang (800m) coming in at 19th. Both had pools of 21 to compete with.

The lone exception came on the Field. Skylar Horton placed 14th out of 22 athletes who were trying to qualify for the Triple Jump finals. She fell short of qualifying.

Soccer

It was a close matchup between Yukon and Team NWT.

Yukon would manage to score the loan goal, assuring that they would finish ahead of the Northwest Territories in the standings.

The NWT Women’s Soccer team will get all of the focus today, being the only NWT action.

They’re up against New Brunswick in a Placing Round match-up, with first touch set for 12:30 pm.
