The Nomination Meeting for the Tłı̨chǫ Government Grand Chief Election is being held this Thursday.

The meeting is a part of the 13th Tłı̨chǫ Gathering that is going on this week.

Once nominations have been completed, official candidates for Grand Chief will be announced. Each candidate will be allowed to give a 15-minute speech.

A current chief of a Tłı̨chǫ Community Government can be nominated for Grand Chief but if elected, cannot hold both offices.

An Advance Poll will take place at the end of this month, with the final voting polls in Behchokǫ̀, Whatì, Gamètì, Wekweètì and Yellowknife closing on September 11th.

There will be many additional options for voters to cast their ballots including mail-in ballots, a special mobile poll, and voting in the Office of the Registrar.
