Cameras installed in Fire Hall were approved by YKFD, City says

A credible source told CJCD that the City of Yellowknife had allegedly placed cameras inside the Yellowknife Fire Hall without consent.

They went as far as saying the cameras may have been in a common changing area.

CJCD reached out to the City of Yellowknife to comment on the matter. The Director of Public Safety for the City of Yellowknife, Dennis Marchiori, reassures the public that the privacy of the workers in the building was not invaded.

We can confirm that there are 4 new cameras that have been installed at the Yellowknife Fire Station,” says Marchiori. “They’re not in any changerooms or anything like that, that’d be weird. They’re along the exterior and interior parts of the doors, for security reasons. If you were to drive by the station and look into the corners of those big doors, you’d see them.

Regarding whether the Yellowknife Fire Department knew of the installation, Marchiori says, “when we held the hearing for the installation, the Fire Chiefs were present. It says so on the documents.
