Fire ban pertains to Yellowknife parks

Not the best news to hear in the middle of July.

Due to dry conditions, a total fire ban at Fred Henne and Yellowknife River Territorial Park is being implemented, effective immediately.

The parks confirmation comes a day after Yellowknife’s Fire Chief, John Fredericks, implemented a mandatory open air burning ban in the city.

Moose FM reached out to the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment and are waiting for a comment.

Updates to the bans will be posted to NWT Parks or ITI websites or social media accounts.

*Edit: Parks ban is not an extension, but rather a confirmation to be included in the city ban.*
