New GNWT website wants public opinion on marijuana legalization

The Government of the Northwest Territories will be launching a new website in an effort to regulate cannabis.

Residents of the Northwest Territories will be able to provide their views on how the GNWT can safely control marijuana. They will also be able to provide opinions on proposed principles to guide how cannabis legalization will be addressed. This will be done through an anonymous public survey.

There will also be community meetings for residents to voice their opinions. Those meetings are currently being finalized for September. The dates of the meetings will be posted on the website.

The website will provide information about the legalization of cannabis and what it means for the NWT. It’ll serve as a resource to keep people informed of any changes in the legalization process, kind of like a middle-ground for residents and legislatures.

The Government of Canada plans to legalize marijuana by July, 2018.
