TV services back after fibre optic line cut

Television signals are back after a brief shutdown due to a damaged fibre optic cable.

All Northwestel services are up and running a fibre line was cut near Jean Marie River.

Northwestel says a fibre optic line was cut outside of the Dehcho community, causing disruptions to telecommunications service in Jean Marie.

Fort Smith, Hay River and Yellowknife were also without TV service at this time.

Update: Hay River police issued a statement at about 11: 30 p.m. Monday that the police operation in the town has concluded. RCMP said more updates will be provided as soon as more information is available, but added there is no risk to the public at this time.
