Nine Northwest Territories Special Olympics athletes will be competing in Medicine Hat this Friday (July 7th).
The Summer Provincial Games are seen as a potential stepping stone to advance on to the National Games in 2018.
Athletes competing include:
- Mark Epelon and Chris Strus – swimming
- Kelton Broome – rhythmic gymnastics
- Emma Moorhouse – athletics
- Annie Strus, Clara Tutcho, Julie White, Kineta Michel and Chantelle Beauchamp – 5 pin bowling.
Special Olympics NWT president, Alan Cash, hopes the athletes take the time to enjoy the moment:
“We wish all of the athletes participating a great Games and hope it is a wonderful experience. We know our athletes will be excellent representatives for Special Olympics NWT.”

He also expressed his appreciation for the coaches who helped the athletes prepare and compete.

The Provincial games will run from July 7th-9th.
