Yellowknife City council votes on 10 year plan to end homelessness

A new strategy is being introduced to assist those without a roof over their head.

Yellowknife is adopting the 2017 Everyone is Home 10 year plan to end homelessness.

City officials unanimously voted for the initiative at monday nights council meeting.

According to the report, $113 Million will be invested over the next decade to provide long term shelter for homeless in yellowknife.

By 2020, the plan is to make 100 apartments available under the Housing First model or through rent support.

Funding is expected to come from all levels of government.
