Multiple ties in Tlicho elections

Another tie from the Tlicho community elections.

Jane Weyallon and Amy Zoe each received 344 votes for the 10th councillor seat in Behchoko.

A by-election is now required within 14 days, according to the tlicho community government act.

The Community Office of Behchokö is now working with the Chief Municipal Election Office on a date for the by-election.

Gameti currently faces the same issue, as Jimmy Mantla and Garry Zoe each received 77 votes for the sixth seat on council.

GNWT says “short-term” subsidy will help offset electricity rate increase
