Yellowknife Police investigating sexual assault

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating a sexual assault case.

On the evening of June 7th, a 56-year old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted near Ruth Inch Memorial Pool off the McMahon Frame Lake Trail.

The Northwest Territories RCMP Forensic Identification Section has been called in to help with the investigation.

Police believe this to be an isolated incident and do not feel that there is a safety risk to the general public.

The RCMP would like to remind everyone to practice basic personal safety. Be smart; be alert; and be aware of your surroundings.  Whenever possible, do not travel alone.  Use high-traffic routes and locations where other people are likely to be around.
