The Northwest Territories will be over 80 events through the Get Active Grant program.

The NWT Recreation and Parks Association announced today that people across the territory will be able to take part in events in their communities. The events will be a part of ‘June is Recreation and Parks Month’.

Executive Director of the NWTRPA, Geoff Ray, says that the month is a perfect way to show how great the Northwest Territories are as a home.

We feel very lucky to live in a territory where, every day, amazing recreation programs, leaders and events are making a difference in our communities. June’s Recreation and Parks Month is an opportunity to highlight the importance of these leaders, programs and events while also supporting them in the form of June Get Active grants.

In 2016, over 4900 NWT residents participated in 64 Get Active-funded events. Many of these events were in celebration of a day of significance (Inuvialuit day, International Trails Day, Aboriginal Day, etc.). Get Active grants are made possible through support from the GNWT and the NWT Seniors Society.
