Search underway in YK for two suspects in alleged assault

Police are asking for your help in locating two suspects in an alleged assault case.

A female teenager was allegedly assaulted in the area of 51st Ave and 47 Street in downtown Yellowknife. The victim was transported to the Stanton Territorial Hospital and later released.

The reported incident happened around 8:00 am on Monday, May 8, according to Yellowknife RCMP.

One suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Mid to late 20’s
  • Wearing black pants (possibly jeans) and black sweater
  • Wearing a dark hat on backwards

The second suspect is described as:

  • Female
  • Wearing a red and black sweater (black on torso and red on the arms)

“Yellowknife RCMP are encouraging anyone who may have noticed something in the area of 51st Ave and 47th St on Monday morning to come forward,” read a news release from Marie York-Condon, spokesperson with the RCMP.

“We have increased patrols in the area as part of the investigation looking for the suspects as well as to increase police visibility in the area. This is an isolated incident and we do not consider public safety to be at risk at this time.”
