Grants announced for recreation and parks month

The NWT Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA) has announced they will be handing out grants to celebrate Recreation and Parks Month in June.

The “Get Active” grants are designed to promote recreation and parks across the territory, with up to $400 available per grant. The money is intended to go toward organizing and delivering a recreation-related event in June, though the events can also focus on older adults as it is also senior citizens month.

“I encourage community groups to celebrate recreation and parks month by hosting or participating in community physical activity events,” reads a news release from Geoff Ray, executive director of the NWTRPA.

The NWTRPA works with communities across the NWT to promote healthy living through active recreation.

“Taking part in recreation and parks programs is an easy way to improve your overall well-being, so get active,” Ray said.
