25th annual Gumboot Rally returns to Yellowknife

The Gumboot Rally is back for another year, and hoping to raise boot loads of cash.

The rally is an annual tradition organized to raise money for the Yellowknife Association for Community Living, which was established in 1962 to support people with intellectual disabilities.

The two-and-a-half-hour event event is usually attended by teams of politicians, unions, business owners and their employees, professionals, government workers, sports teams, school staff, students and families.

Contests will include The Boot Toss and The Boot Bowl-A-Thong, and there will be live music, magic shows and a BBQ.

Last year the rally raised $15,000. All the funds support the services the organization offers, such as
its skills training, family and children’s services, employment services, and literacy outreach.
