The territorial government has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. five years in a row now.

“We are proud to be recognized for our efforts to support a diverse and inclusive public service,” said Finance Minister Robert C. McLeod.

“This … is an important reminder of the progress we’ve made and motivates us to do more in the future to ensure that the public service is representative of the people it serves.”

100 employers are recognized by Mediacorp Canada Inc. every year.

They’re judged based on their ability to create inclusive workplaces for women, visible minorities, people with disabilities, Aboriginal peoples and members of the LGBTQA+ community.

The GNWT was selected because of the work of its Diversity and Inclusion Unit, Aboriginal Employees Advisory Committee and Advisory Committee on Employability.

All of which are tasked with attracting and retaining employees of diverse backgrounds and fostering a spirit of inclusion within the GNWT.
