YK man wins over $12,000 playing lottery

Yellowknife, NWT – A Yellowknife man is over $12,000 richer after a big lottery win.

Jose Tolentino says he bought a $5 POOLS sports lottery card and correctly predicted the outcomes of 11 NHL games.

Tolentino knew he had a winning card because he followed each game but he didn’t know the total amount of his winnings.

He says he discovered exactly how much he’d won when he checked it at the Reddi Mart on Byrne Road, the same store where he bought the ticket.

Tolentino says he plans on spending his $12,162 on his family and paying off bills.
