YK man charged with assault, forcible confinement of a woman

A Yellowknife man has been charged with aggravated assault and forcible confinement following an alleged altercation with a woman last Friday.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., Yellowknife RCMP were called to the Bison Hill apartment building where they found a woman who had reportedly been assaulted.

The woman, whose identity hasn’t been released, was transported to Stanton Hospital for treatment. She told police the man had assaulted her and kept her from leaving the apartment throughout the day.

Tevin McNeely, 20, was later arrested and is facing a range of charges, including aggravated assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats and failure to comply with a probation order.

As police continue to investigate, McNeeley is scheduled to make a court appearance in Yellowknife on Tuesday.
