Police make ‘significant seizure’ in new Yellowknife drugs raid

Yellowknife RCMP say they’ve made a “significant seizure” of drugs and cash at an apartment on Con Road.

In the NWT’s third drug-related search this week, police found “approximately 50 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 10 grams of marijuana, a quantity of steroids, and a quantity of yet-to-be identified pills” according to a statement released on Friday.

The search, which took place on Thursday evening, also uncovered phones, scales, packaging, documents, and cash which police believe relates to their investigation.

Five people were arrested, three of whom remain in custody. Police say charges are pending for trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, the breach of court ordered conditions, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Earlier in the week, three people in their twenties were charged with offences related to the trafficking of crack cocaine following a separate search at an apartment in the Frame Lake area.
