America: Yellowknife has plenty of room – reactions to Trump win

It’s official. After the nailbiter that was the 2016 American election, Republican nominee Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States in an unexpected win over Hillary Clinton. 

In the wake of Canada’s immigration website crashing on election night with a surplus of Americans searching for how to move north of the border, Yellowknifers started offering some helpful advice on Twitter.

Even Mayor Mark Heyck joined it, tweeting out a link to Yellowknife’s Come Make Your Mark job board advertising for people to ‘move up’ with the hashtag #ElectionNight.

One British Columbia resident said he was already packing his bags to move further away from the US border.

Other Canadians tried to push Americans on Yellowknife.
