Man charged with two counts of sex assault, one involving minor

A Behchoko man has been charged in connection with two alleged sexual assaults in the community, including one involving a minor.

In the early hours of Oct. 22, police say an allegation of sexual assault involving a minor girl was brought forward.

Following a criminal investigation, 40-year-old Peter John Lafferty of Behchoko was charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference.

Police say this is Lafferty’s second such offence in the past month after he was charged with sexual assault back on Oct. 2 in relation to an alleged assault against an adult woman.

Lafferty is currently in police custody and is expected to make a court appearance in Yellowknife Tuesday.
