Yellowknife man dies after falling from 4th floor balcony

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating the sudden death of a man who fell from a fourth floor balcony over the weekend.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a call for service at a downtown apartment building.

Officers arrived to find a ‘severely injured’ 33-year-old man outside the building. Police say he sustained the injuries after falling from a balcony on the building’s fourth floor.

After being transported to Stanton Hospital, the man was medevaced to Edmonton. However, he became unresponsive during the flight and was declared dead.

The flight returned to Yellowknife and the investigation is now in the hands of the territory’s chief coroner.

At this time, police say there is no evidence of foul play and that the man’s death doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
