Behchoko RCMP are investigating two cases of vandalism reported in the community this week.

The first occurred on Sunday, when police responded to a complaint of a break and enter at Elizabeth Mackenzie Elementary School.

It’s believed that a group of teenagers gained access to storage sheds, stole two bikes and sprayed fire extinguishers. As police continue to investigate, any tips from the public are welcome.

Later in the week, on Wednesday night, police say they responded to a vandalism complaint at the new sportsplex, which is slated to open this month.

Following an investigation, 48-year-old Lawrence Blackduck was arrested and charged with mischief.

He’s expected to make a court appearance in Yellowknife next Monday.
