Two passengers safe after plane crashes north of Yellowknife

Two people were found safe Friday after a private plane they were travelling in crashed northeast of Yellowknife.

Search crews had been looking for the aircraft in the area of Gordon Lake, approximately 90 kilometers from the NWT capital.

The aircraft took off from the area Thursday and was reported missing when it failed to return later that day.

Officials with Trenton Search and Rescue and the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association were involved in the search.

A Hercules from Winnipeg, Man. and a helicopter from Cold Lake, Alta. were also deployed.
