Man arrested near N’dilo after trying to swim from police

Yellowknife RCMP say a man was taken into custody after he tried to swim away from officers on Saturday morning.

The man, who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants, jumped into water near N’dilo when he was spotted during a patrol around 6:00am.

With the help of medical services and firefighters, police were able to track the suspect down in a boat and arrest him as he was trying to board an empty vessel.

The man was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later taken to Stanton Hospital for observation.

Police say charges are pending as they continue to investigate.
