Nine people facing charges after cocaine, cash seized in Hay River

Nine people are facing charges following a drug investigation in Hay River.

On Saturday, police wrapped up a lengthy investigation by executing five search warrants in the community.

Of those five, four were performed in the town itself while one was executed on the K’atl’odeeche First Nation.

Eight people have since been arrested and charged with a warrant being issued for the arrest of a ninth person accused of trafficking marijuana. The name of that individual hasn’t been made public.

Three suspects have been remanded into custody while the others have been released pending future court appearances.
