Northwestel services restored following major outage Monday

Northwestel says internet, television and cellular services have been completely restored following a major outage across the North Monday.

Customers in parts of the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut were without broadband data, long distance and cellular services for most of the day after a fibre line was cut in northeastern British Columbia.

TV customers in Yellowknife were also affected by the disruption.

Northwestel says the cut happened between Liard Hot Springs and Muncho Lake, causing ‘critical disruptions.’

By 4pm, the company says all impacted services were completely restored.
