NWT Mountie charged with sexual assault in Nova Scotia

Police in Nova Scotia have charged a Mountie who now works in the Northwest Territories with sexual assault.

Cst. Charles Quartey, who’s worked in the territory since 2014, is alleged to have sexually assaulted an Auburn, N.S., woman in 1995 while he was stationed in Bridgetown.

Quartey was charged on Tuesday after police say they received a tip about the alleged incident while investigating a separate matter last summer.

He’s alleged to have touched the woman in a sexual manner without her consent while on duty.

Quartey was placed on administrative duties in November and suspended from duty last month. He’s scheduled to make a court appearance in Kentville, N.S., on September 27.
