Father and daughter seen by air after being reported missing

Ulukhaktok RCMP say a father and daughter have been spotted by aircraft after being reported missing Monday morning.

An aircraft belonging to Aklak Air identified the missing pair on ATVs about 150 kilometres away from Ulukhaktok – about five hours away from the community, the RCMP said.

The RCMP, Aklak Air and local citizens were involved in a ground and air search.

Missing boater found near Whatì

Meanwhile, a boater was found near the community of Whatì on Tuesday evening after being reported missing on Monday morning.

The 42-year-old man was found with non-life threatening injuries around 7 pm on Tuesday night.

“The boat used by the individual was recovered in the afternoon of July 18 against a shore, and may have run out of gas,” the RCMP said in a press release.

The man was found about 15 kilometres from where the boat was discovered on Lac La Martre and then taken to the local health centre for a medical assessment.

The search involved Whatì RCMP, CASARA (Civil Air Search And Rescue Association), the 440 Transport Squadron and local volunteers.
