Yellowknife, NWT – Ottawa-based First Air has fired two pilots after a flight to Iqaluit flew hundreds of kilometers off course — late last month.

The airline made the decision after reviewing the flight data and navigational aids on board.

First Air learned the pilots did not follow the airline’s standard operating procedures designed to eliminate navigational errors.

The airline says it interviewed the pilots and received reports from the cabin crew on board before making the decision to fire the two.
