Alcohol, drugs seized in Norman Wells after flight was chartered

Norman Wells RCMP say a large quantity of liquor and drugs has been seized after four residents of Colville Lake chartered an aircraft earlier this month.

Police say four people chartered an aircraft from Colville Lake and Norman Wells on June 25.

The same group had flights booked on a scheduled June 27 flight between Norman Wells and Colville Lake.

After questioning, a large amount of liquor and drugs was seized. No charges were laid.

RCMP seized the following substances:

  • 63 bottles of Smirnoff vodka (375 ml)
  • 9 bottles of Smirnoff vodka (750 ml)
  • 6 bottles of Smirnoff vodka (1.14 L)
  • 4 bottles of Captain Morgan rum (1.14 L)
  • 1 bottle of Captain Morgan rum (750 ml)
  • 1 bottle of Jack Daniels rum (750 ml)
  • 24 beer/twisted tea
  • 3 bags of marijuana

Police also seized illegal alcohol in Deline.

After receiving a tip from the public, Deline RCMP began an investigation and determined two adult males were planning to bring a large amount of alcohol on a commercial flight from Norman Wells.

The males were arrested at the Deline airport with the following alcohol in their luggage:

  • 41 bottles of vodka (375 ml)
  • 15 bottles of beer

No charges were laid.
